Mutual Housing
June 6, 2011
Buying a home is not an option for many in such an uncertain economy. Renting is an option that many are turning to in seeking a home. However, with unemployment at such a high rate and job growth stagnate, the rental market has become out-of-reach for some individuals who are working in industries that are low-to-moderate in pay scale. So where do people turn for affordable housing?
The Sacramento|Yolo Mutual Housing Association has been building affordable non-profit communities for over two decades. The organization could not exist without much needed financial support. Allison Fleming, Resource Development Coordinator for the mutual housing association, chats with Guy Farris about the need for affordable homes and their upcoming annual fundraiser.
Mutual
Housing develops and operates well-designed rental housing for modest-income
households in Sacramento and Yolo counties. The communities have 2,600
residents, half of whom are children.
