New Developments
Donner Field
Sacramento Mutual Housing Association is developing a 21-home project known as Donner Field on a vacant field on 45th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues. Construction begins on this single family housing complex in fall 2007 after years of building apartments and town homes. Plans developed by Sacramento's Mogavero Notestine Associates architecture firm call for two-,three-and four-bedroom homes, all with front porches and yards. Prices haven't been set, but 10 homes will be designated for lower-income buyers. To keep prices affordable, the land under those homes will be placed in a trust allowing buyers to resell their homes, but not the land. The project is on property that was part of the former Donner School on Stockton Boulevard.

New Harmony in the City of Davis
Sacramento Mutual Housing Association is proud to announce a new development partnership with Yolo Mutual Housing Association. We are joining forces with this sister mutual housing association to create affordable family housing in the City of Davis. In April, our two organizations jointly purchased three and a half acres at Cowell and Drummond Boulevards, almost adjacent to a small affordable housing property already owned and operated by Yolo MHA. This new development partnership represents SMHA's first foray into expanding outside of Sacramento County. Yolo MHA and SMHA have similar visions for affordable housing development and resident involvement and leadership. Both organizations, as well as the staff at the City of Davis who administer the City's affordable housing program, are committed to seeing that the new housing development is an environmentally friendly 'green' property and is fully accessible to people with disabilities.
