Iliana Chevez works with resident members of Tremont Green Mutual Housing Community in Davis. There she supports resident member leadership development in order to build strong and stable communities. In this role Ms. Chevez also supervises our Yolo County community organizing staff. Iliana manages our Maximize Your Credit Program and supports other financial programming education needs. Ms. Chevez joined us in 2010 as an intern for asset management and community organizing, later becoming a community organizer on staff. She graduated from University of California, Davis in June 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Community and Regional Development and a minor in Spanish. During her academic career, she was involved with community service organization called Mujeres Ayudando la Raza and with an academic sorority called Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated. She also traveled to South Africa to learn the role of politics in community building. She speaks both English and Spanish fluently.
Courtney Poole, Social Work Community Organizer

Courtney Poole works with resident members of Mutual Housing at the Highlands in North Highlands. There she supports resident member leadership development in order to build strong and stable communities. She leads several key initiatives including our college ambassadors training and a food bank program. Ms. Poole also manages the Social Work Intern Program at Mutual Housing California to encourage social work students to discover and engage in the connections between community organizing and direct social work practice. Courtney developed an interest in safe, affordable housing through her work as a case manager at Saint John’s Program for Real Change and as a housing advocate at Sacramento Housing Alliance. Courtney joined the organizing team in June of 2015 after earning a Master of Social Work degree from California State University Sacramento.
Jessica Cuevas, Community Organizer

Jessica Cuevas works with resident members at Victory Townhomes Mutual Housing Community, Mutual Housing at Dixieanne, and Mutual Housing on the Greenway in Sacramento. She supports resident member leadership development in order to build strong and stable communities. Ms. Cuevas joined us in 2016 after completing a Summer internship supporting our Mutual Housing at Spring Lake community. During the internship Jessica developed a strong interest in supporting residents through leadership development. Jessica graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor of Arts in Chicano Studies (social policy emphasis) and two minors, Community and Regional Development and Education in Spring 2017. She speaks English and Spanish fluently.

Yekaterina Tkachenko works with resident members of Mutual Housing at Foothill Farms and Mutual Housing at River Garden in Sacramento. There she supports resident member leadership development in order to build strong and stable communities. Ms. Tkachenko joined us in 2017 and was a resident leader and part-time worker in a CHOC community. Key initiatives that she supports include the garden committee of Mutual Housing at River Garden and after-school tutoring. She speaks English, Ukranian and Russian fluently.
Alexandra Aguilar, Community Organizer

Alexandra Aguilar works with resident members at New Harmony Mutual Housing Community, Owendale Mutual Housing Community, and Tremont Green Mutual Housing Community in Davis. She supports our resident leaders participation in advocacy campaigns and coalitions such as Housing California’s Residents United Network. Ms. Aguilar began working on safe and healthy housing in her home community of Fresno, CA. She then concentrated on the election year, while helping to pass several propositions and registering new and infrequent voters. She graduated from California State University, Fresno with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, along with two certificates in Cultural Competency and Applied Research.

There she supports resident member leadership development in order to build strong and stable communities. She also supports the community organizer at Mutual Housing at Sky Park. Ms. Phuong Ton most recently worked with St John’s Program for Real Change in their child daycare department. She speaks Vietnamese and English fluently.
Chinua Rhodes, Community Organizer

Chinua Rhodes works with resident members at Mutual Housing at Norwood and Mutual Housing at Sky Park in Sacramento. He supports resident member leadership development in order to build strong and stable communities. Mr. Rhodes joined us with a strong back ground in community and youth advocacy. He has coordinated A.S.E.S and 21st Century grants supporting over 1000 youth and families in the City and County of Sacramento. Chinua has experience working with the City of Sacramento gang task force on prevention efforts through GPTTO (gang prevention through targeted outreach). The program focused on school aged youth whose families have been impacted by gang activity. He was inspired after completing a local municipal planning and management academy to support affordable housing as a grassroots effort for change. He was later appointed by Sacramento City Council under the recommendation of Mayor Pro Tem Larry Carr as Parks and Recreations Commissioner of District 8. As Parks and Recreation Commissioner for District 8 Chinua provides policy, project recommendations and advice to city council, the parks and recreation department, community members, and other members of the commission. His passion for community building is equally linked with his passion for art and cross-cultural experiences. Mr. Rhodes remains an active leader of his community and aims to grow in his leadership skill set while adding to the diverse tapestry that is Mutual Housing California.
