Mutual Housing California was created in 1988 to catalyze revitalization of low-income communities by strengthening neighborhood assets—both through housing and resident involvement. The organization formed as a partnership of neighborhood residents, business representatives, housing advocates, and local government.
For the past 27 years, Mutual Housing California has developed, operated and advocated for sustainable housing that builds strong communities through resident participation and leadership development. Currently, over 3,200 residents live in over one thousand homes operated by our organization. Our residents describe our properties as safe, clean, community-oriented, and inclusive. Over the past few years we have expanded our geographic service area, moved into green property development, and increased our portfolio of affordable housing. In 2015 we completed construction of the first nationally certified zero net energy housing for renters in the United States.
At the heart of our work is a desire to build strong communities where residents work together to enhance their individual and collective lives. An important way that we support this vision is through developing onsite programs that build upon the existing strengths of our resident members, provide opportunities for growth, and leverage relationships with external organizations and community volunteers.

Mutual Housing California seeks a dynamic, entrepreneurial and mission-driven Chief Executive Officer to champion and implement the development and operations of high-quality, innovative affordable housing and resident leadership programs for the Sacramento region and beyond.
The Director of Resource Development will oversee all fundraising activities of the organization and lead the creation and execution of resource development plans, fundraising, and promotional events. This position requires maintaining strong relationships with our supporters. The Director of Resource Development will build and grow the profile and influence of the organization among relevant communities. This includes developing the fundraising skills of staff, board, and volunteers. The position also works with the Community Relations Coordinator, media consultants, and residents of various backgrounds to promote Mutual Housing California in the community and among funders.
Mutual Housing Management is seeking an experienced Director of Compliance for its Property Management Department, located in Sacramento. The position reports to the Director of Property Management. This position is responsible for compliance review of all Tax Credit/HUD move-ins and re-certifications, conducting file audits of properties, providing training to Property Managers, and monitoring compliance with all agency regulations, and file/physical inspections.
Community Organizers work with individual residents, resident groups and neighborhood groups and others to involve them in both community-building programs within Mutual Housing California properties in the Cities of Sacramento and Davis and in public life to effect change for their families and community. This position serves communities with a significant population of Vietnamese speaking resident members.

Mutual Housing Management is seeking an administrative assistant for its Property Management Department, located in Sacramento. The administrative assistant supports the Director of Property Management, Regional Manager, and the Director of Maintenance Operations to ensure smooth daily operations of Mutual Housing Management. This position provides administrative assistance, secretarial, and office resource support.
